Plans & billing
- What is AI usage?
- Paid plans include monthly AI usage for analysis, the writing assistant in the Screenplay Editor, the Agent, Coverage, and workflows. It resets each billing cycle. Active subscribers can buy additional AI usage, and referral or promotional AI usage adds to the same balance.
- What counts as a script?
- Every film revision and episode revision you add counts as one script. Plus includes 10 scripts, Pro includes 50, and Max includes 200. Editor drafts and checkpoints do not count.
- What happens when I archive a title?
- Archive is included on every plan. It hides a title from Home and the default Library. Archiving does not change your script count. Return it to the Library any time.
- Can I pay annually?
- Yes. Every paid plan has an annual option priced at 10 months: 2 months free compared to paying monthly. Your AI usage still resets monthly, and everything else works the same. You can switch between monthly and annual billing any time from your plan settings.
- What happens when I downgrade or cancel?
- Nothing is deleted or automatically archived. Your Library, drafts, and artifacts stay readable and exportable. If you are over the new script limit, you cannot add more scripts until you make room or choose another plan. Editor drafts remain editable.
- Can I write without a subscription?
- Yes. Start a blank draft or import a script, then write, format, autosave, save checkpoints, and export without a subscription. Your drafts stay saved in your account. AI usage and adding a script to your Library require Plus, Pro, or Max.
- I ran out of AI usage mid-month. What are my options?
- With an active subscription, buy more AI usage, use any additional AI usage already on your account, wait for renewal, or upgrade. Prescene does not add automatic overage charges.
- Does unused AI usage roll over?
- Unused monthly AI usage does not roll over. Referral and promotional AI usage follows the expiration shown when it is granted.
- Why did uploading a script use so much of my budget?
- Analyzing a script isn't storage. It's Prescene reading it the way a development exec would: every scene, character, and location, mapped and understood. It's the single most valuable (and most expensive) thing Prescene does, and everything else builds on it.
Coverage
- What does Coverage cost?
- AI script coverage starts at $49/mo and is included with Plus, Pro, and Max. It uses your plan’s AI usage, plus any additional AI usage on your account.
- Where do coverage scripts live?
- Coverage runs on your active scripts. Your reports stay in Coverage and do not expire.
- How does Prescene coverage compare to a human reader?
- Prescene reads every page and returns a consistent scorecard, written feedback, and scene references. It can support early triage, but it does not replace human judgment or a trusted creative conversation.
- What does a Coverage ranking mean?
- Eligible complete scripts may receive a ranking against others in the same format. The ranking is saved with the report and does not change later. It provides context, not a prediction of success. In-progress scripts are not ranked.
- Can Prescene analyze a whole series?
- Yes. Prescene creates one living series read across every analyzed episode, following characters, plotlines, story arcs, progression, and tension across the whole show. The report deepens as episodes are added and can be updated against the prior read.
Workflows
- What does a workflow create?
- A workflow turns an analyzed script, series, or season into a durable document, table, or Coverage report. Built-in workflows include breakdowns, shot lists, shooting schedules, finance plans, risk memos, and film or series Coverage.
- Can I edit and export workflow results?
- Yes. Most documents and tables can be edited through a Draft with autosave, history, and saved versions. Documents export to PDF, Word, Google Docs, or text. Tables export to Excel, CSV, Google Sheets, or text. Coverage reports stay locked but remain exportable.
- Can I build my own workflow?
- Yes, on Pro and Max. Choose a table or document, decide whether it runs on a script or a series, then define the rows, columns, sections, instructions, and optional examples Prescene should follow. You can also duplicate supported built-in workflows as a starting point.
- What happens to custom workflows if I downgrade?
- Existing custom workflow definitions and their results remain readable. Creating, editing, or running a custom workflow requires Pro or Max.
Screenplay Editor
- Is the editor really free?
- Yes. Writing, professional screenplay formatting, autosave, checkpoints, imports, and standard exports are free. The writing assistant and background story analysis use paid-plan AI usage when switched on.
- Can I bring in an existing screenplay and export it again?
- Yes. Import PDF, Final Draft, Fountain, or Fade In as an editable draft. Export PDF, Final Draft .fdx, Fountain, or plain text, with title-page, scene-number, and watermark options where the format supports them.
- How does the Screenplay Editor fit with my Library?
- The Screenplay Editor is the writing surface for drafts, separate from your Library. Start a standalone draft, import a file, or continue from a script in your Library. Editing never overwrites the source. When a revision is ready, add it to your Library as a new script.
- Is this version control for screenplays?
- In the ways that matter. Uploaded and analyzed source versions stay unchanged. Editable drafts can be checkpointed, restored, or started from earlier work without overwriting it. Prescene borrows the safety of software version control without asking you to manage branches, commits, or repositories.
- What can the writing assistant help with?
- Ask about plot, structure, themes, scenes, character motivations, continuity, or a selected passage. Use it to pressure-test an idea, recover context, explore a scene direction, or propose a rewrite. Its answers and suggestions are grounded in the draft you are writing and the freshest available scene and character intelligence.
- What does the writing assistant toggle do?
- On: Prescene keeps scene and character intelligence fresh as you write and enables editor chat and rewrite proposals. AI usage is used only when your changes need fresh thinking. Off: there is no background analysis, no suggestions, and no AI usage. Writing and autosave continue either way.
- Can the assistant change my draft without me?
- No. Rewrites arrive as marked-up proposals in the screenplay. Accept or reject each change, or review the full proposal at once. Prescene saves a checkpoint before accepted changes are applied.
- Will the assistant interrupt my writing?
- No. It waits until you leave a scene or pause, then refreshes in the background. Your typing is not blocked by analysis.
Prescene in your tools
- Can I use Prescene from Claude or other tools?
- Prescene has an MCP surface for bringing source-grounded story intelligence into external assistants and studio tools. Studio and partner deployments are available today. Self-service connection setup is still being prepared.
- Is there an API?
- Yes, on Plus, Pro, and Max. Upload scripts, read story data, and run workflows from your own code. Studios and teams exploring deeper integrations can write us at hello@prescene.com.
